Ecobee thermostats get some new tricks.

This spring the smart thermostat will be able to show you the status of your Generac home generator and alert you if there’s an issue.

This is the first integration we’ve seen since Ecobee was bought by Generac in November 2021, but given both companies focus on home energy management, it likely won’t be the last.

Ecobee CEO Stuart Lombard told me at CES this year that the shared vision includes a whole home energy ecosystem that incorporates not only HVAC and generators but also home solar and battery storage. Watch this space.
